TECHNOLOGY FOR MATERIAL RECOVERY OF PLASTIC WASTE - POLYBET

TECHNOLOGY FOR MATERIAL RECOVERY OF PLASTIC WASTE - POLYBET

Industrial technology for the production of composite products from mixed waste plastics and inert fillers

POLYBET is an industrial scale technology for the production of composite products from mixed plastic waste and inert fillers.
Technology using multi-type thermoplastic waste combined with inert fillers transforms the input materials into decorative and building components. The technology was created in response to the unsatisfactory state of waste management, where a significant percentage of plastic waste is still landfilled without further material or energy recovery. POLYBET technology brings to the market a breakthrough possibility of waste material recovery and production of products with properties at the level of modern materials.

• high performance and productivity
• significant savings of primary raw materials
• environmentally and energy efficient technology
• products made of composite material with above-standard utility properties

Input 1 - MIXED PLASTIC WASTE - almost nondegradable by landfilling; contain a wide range of materials; are often combined with each other or contaminated with other materials; problem with the compatibility of different processability of different types of polymers. Conventional recycling technologies require clean single-type waste of known composition in sufficient quality.

Input 2 - SPECIFIC INERT WASTE - there is no efficient way of recycling - mostly landfilled: unused specific glass from photovoltaic panels, automotive glass, recycled from demolition waste, slag, dust - steelworks, incinerators, etc.

The technology was awarded with the Seal of Excellence of the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 program and the Honorable Mention within the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Czech Republic competition "Conversion of waste into resources". European patent application pending.
